Summer, sun, sea, flip flops, iced coffee and countless strolls!

Summer is the best time for our mood, but perhaps the most burdensome one for our skin and especially for our feet.

Not only because of the sun and drought, but also because our body and especially our feet are more exposed to natural conditions than in any other time of the year. In fact, for women, if you add standing or high-heeled shoes, foot discomfort becomes unbearable. As a result, our heels often crack.

Here are three simple tips to help you take care of your feet and keep them healthy.

1.- Foot Baths

In summer, our feet get dry and the skin cracks. A good way to maintain basic moisture, is to take regular foot baths. Soaking the feet for 15 minutes is enough. In the water we add about a handful of salts and some suitable essential oil for the feet. Together with our feet we will relax as well!!

2.- Peeling

With the use of a pumice stone or rasp, we lightly rub our feet to remove dead cells and soften the skin. We can also perform a light scrub massage.

3.- Foot Cream

In the market, we can find several and very effective deep moisturizing creams, suitable for cracked heels. Choose a type containing salicylic acid and ……….. It helps exfoliation and prevents calluses. Its periodic use twice a day, will help your skin to moisturize, especially during this period.

There is no summer without flip flops!!

But flip flops are favoring skin cracking. Also, due to their low sole, they allow the feet to come in contact with germs and dirt.

For this reason, it would be wise not to wear exclusively flip flops but also, to a possible extent, closed summer shoes. Also, make sure that your open shoes and flip flops have a thicker sole to keep your feet as far away from the ground as possible.
